Frisco,
TX- Day two of the 2005 Global Games featured
more high-scoring from the Global Games Select team and a spirited
battle
between USA Basketball and the Dallas Mavericks Summer League team.
Among the day’s highlights were:
Global
Games Select- 104 Ukraine- 86: The Select team
served notice that yesterday’s offensive outburst against Africa
won’t be
an anomaly, by knocking off 2004 Global Games champion Ukraine,
104-86. Arizona’s Marcus Williams again led the Select squad
with 32 points and 10 rebounds. Georgia Tech bound guard Lewis Clinch
chipped in with 25 points and Jeremy Barr bulled his way to 12 points
and 8 rebounds. Ukraine’s Oleksiy Pecherov (2004 GG MVP) continued
to dominate Global Games competition by torching the Select team for
36 points and 14 rebounds.
The
Select team will take a 2-0 record into their day
off before resuming action on Tuesday against Team Texas at 3:00 pm.
Ukraine will try to even its record when it battles Slovenia, Monday
at 3:00
pm.
Dallas
Mavericks- 102 USA Basketball- 86: The Dallas
Mavericks Summer League squad dominated USA Basketball’s Under-21
National team, during the second game of the afternoon, winning by
a score of 102-86 The Mavericks, who were led by point guard David
Logan’s 21 points, were relentless on the boards--out-rebounding
USA 56 to 35. Newly signed Maverick Josh Powell scored 20 points,
and grabbed 10 rebounds. University of Oregon guard Aaron Brooks led
the USA squad with 11 points.
The
USA team will resume play against Ukraine, Wednesday, July 27 at 2:00
p.m.
Tidbits
- Maverick owner Mark Cuban was in attendance. - Maverick great Rolando
Blackman coached the Maverick Summer League team
- USA Basketball’s Ronnie Brewer is a two-time Global Games
participant.
Brewer was a member of the Silver Medal winning Select team in 2003.
- Thus far, 14 NBA teams have had representatives attend thetournament.
-Newly hired Cleveland Cavaliers General Manager Danny
Ferry was also in attendance.

Information
Tickets will be available at the box office throughout
the tournament. The box office will be open one hour prior to the
tip-off
of the first game daily. All adult and children tickets are $5 until
Thursday, July 28. Ticket prices for Thursday, July 28 through Saturday,
July 30 are as follows:

· $15 – floor seats
