Frisco, TX- The 2005 Global Games kicked off today at The Dr. Pepper StarCenter in Frisco, TX. Here are the highlights:

The 6th version of the Global Games kicked off today in the Deja Blue Arena at the Dr. Pepper StarCenter with the Global Games Select team soundly defeating Africa, 116-70. The Select team, which shot a blistering 60% from the field, had five players in double digits, led by Arizona-bound Marcus Williams’ 26 pts (on 11-18 shooting). Africa struggled with their shooting the entire game misfiring on 65% of their field goal attempts. The lone bright spot for the visitors was Frank Traore who posted a double- double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

The Select team will face a much stiffer challenge tomorrow when they take on the 2004 Global Games defending champion, Ukraine. Africa will face Team Texas, coached by Collin County coaching legend Jim Sigona, on Monday.

Ticket Information:

Tickets will be available at the box office throughout the tournament. The box office will be open one hour prior to the tip-off of the first game daily. All adult and children tickets are $5 until Thursday, July 28. Ticket prices for Thursday, July 28 through Saturday, July 30 are as follows:
• $10 – adults
• $5 – children
• $15 – floor seats
